Detail : The first record of the organ states that it was built in 1794 by a Mr. A. Gray. It was first installed in Eaton Hall, Chester in 1794 as a wedding gift to the Marchioness of Westminster, Lady Eleanor, by her father, the Earl of Wilton. The present organ case, made of walnut, decorated with mother of pearl, dates to this time, as well as the ivory keys and stops. In 1881 the organ was renovated by Charles Whitely of Chester. In 1929 it was donated to the Chester City Mission, but due to its large size, it was unable to be installed. Shortly afterwards, in 1932, it was installed at St. Cybi's where it has remined in the North Transept ever since. The organ was built with two manuals and tracker action. During the 1881 renovation slides were fitted, renovations were made to the tracker action, and the pedal organ was placed on a tubular pneumatic system, together with a radiating and concave pedal board. In 1932 the pedal section was extended by the addition of a new rank of pipes. The organ had a full overhaul in 2013. Write up on organ available on request.
